If so, we currently have an amazing opportunity for you as an experienced Quality Specialist to join our Governance and Risk team in NSW.

How you will make an Impact

Reporting to the Head of Governance and Risk the Quality Compliance Nurse (QCN) is a key member of the team responsible for the implementation, monitoring , and leading continuous improvement to deliver best practice outcomes for Residents and the organisation. This critical role will participate in the coordination and planning of activities to support Heritage Care accreditation and clinical safety compliance requirements.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Care – Identifying improvement opportunities in clinical care, related clinical tasks and documentation. This may auditing and monitoring resident files, progress notes, clinical chartings, medication management and staff practices. Ensuring high impact or high prevalent risk care needs are managed appropriately by the clinical team such as wound care, diabetic care, and palliative/end of life care.
  • Incidents- Assisting in the identification, response and analysis of serious incidents, including mandatory reporting requirements; coroners information gathering and preparation of resolution reports;this may involve ensuring the clinical team at the designated site implement preventative actions to ensure risks are either eliminated or minimised and reviewing them for effectiveness.
  • Communication Workbook- Maintaining the communication workbook for all sites and adhering to the user guide and parameters as indicated. This also includes completion of Quality verification and evaluation of actions done to address gaps and assist in fixing gaps where possible.
  • Quality Control Check (QCC) including infection control checks- Conducting monthly designated QCC audits and partnering with the homes leadership team to ensure prompt action and closure.
  • Gap Analysis- Participating with organised regular Gap Analysis reviews and assisting in formulating corrective actions and achieving the identified actions planned.
  • ACQSC assessment visits- Supporting the homes Leadership Team during external regulator reviews/ audits. This includes assisting in preparation for re-accreditation and all related assessment activites.

What you will bring

  • Registered Nurse with current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Extensive experience as a Registered Nurse with at least 5 years' experience or a similar role in Aged Care or similar discipline
  • Broad knowledge of the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (ACQSC) and expected outcomes, Aged Care Industry, Aged Care Act, 1997 and subordinate principles
  • Experience in the re-accreditation process and related assessment visits through the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (ACQSC)
  • Lead auditor qualifications or Quality Aged Care Assessor qualifications
  • An unambiguous understanding of clinical governance and accountability
  • Infection Prevention and Control Qualifications
  • Excellent computer literacy and competency in electronic care systems
  • Strong communication skills demonstrating the ability to influence others to the benefit of residents and stakeholders
  • Experience in Key Performance Indicators, the ability to interpret and analyse data
  • Working knowledge of the Australian National Aged Care Classification (AN-ACC) funding model
  • Sound knowledge of compliance processes, risk management and continuous quality improvement principles
  • Solid understanding of the application of the legislation governing Aged Care Operations.
  • Investigation and report writing experience
  • Available and Flexible to travel and work at various Heritage Care sites throughout NSW and interstate, as required. Specifically, in consultation with the Quality team develop plan of weekly movements locating self at various Heritage Care sites during working days. 
  • Customer focused and committed to person centred care;
  • Current NDIS Workers Screening Check
  • Current Covid-19 Vaccinations (highly recommended)
